Software license
For copies downloaded from the App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement governs the app's software license. These terms supplement it with Companion-specific information. They do not replace that license or limit mandatory consumer rights.
Free practice and playback
Companion is free, with no in-app purchases or Haptivate account. You can try its standalone haptic practice, change the feel and save a local draft without a Mac connection. Ratings and reviews are optional and never unlock or restrict features.
You can also use Companion to feel patterns created in the separate Haptivate Studio Mac app. Studio editing and phone playback are free. Studio offers optional paid access to certain exports; an export purchase is not needed to use Companion or receive a pattern from Studio.
Device requirements and connections
Physical feedback requires a supported, haptics-capable iPhone and a compatible iOS version. A Simulator cannot reproduce the physical sensation. The App Store listing specifies supported devices and system requirements.
To connect to Studio, allow Bluetooth, make Companion available, select the phone on your Mac and approve the request on your iPhone. Keep Companion visible and the devices nearby during playback. A cable is not required. You can disconnect or forget an approved Mac at any time. Only accept requests from devices you recognize.
Your device, permissions, app versions, operating-system state, range and interference can affect connection and playback. We do not promise uninterrupted wireless operation or support for every device or operating-system version.
Patterns and reference effects
You retain the rights you have in your original drafts and content. You must have permission to use content you send from Studio or otherwise use with Companion. Using Companion does not transfer ownership of the app, Haptivate branding, illustration assets or third-party reference material to you.
The app provides original practice experiences and native iPhone reference effects for comparison. Similarity to a familiar interaction does not mean the sensation exactly reproduces another device. The crown-inspired lesson is an original practice experience; Companion does not require, connect to or control an Apple Watch.
Haptics vary by device, settings and the person using them. The app cannot determine what you physically felt. Use a comfortable strength and stop if feedback causes discomfort. Companion is a creative and learning tool, not a medical device or a measurement of neural activity.
Local data and privacy
Your drafts and preferences are kept locally. Review the Companion Privacy Policy for information about Bluetooth exchanges, saved pairing information, local diagnostic records, Apple services and support messages.
Haptivate does not provide cloud recovery for local drafts. Device backups follow your backup settings. Deleting the app removes its app-container data; offloading it can preserve that data. Use Forget This Mac before deleting the app if you want to remove its saved pairing information, which can survive an app reinstall. Files already saved on a Mac or in backups must be managed separately.
Support and changes
Contact [email protected] if the app is not working as expected. Include only the information needed to explain the problem. Never send an Apple Account password or payment-card details.
App updates may change the interface or provide compatibility, security or reliability improvements. These supplemental terms may be updated as the product or law changes. We will show the effective date and provide any additional notice required by law. Changes do not override mandatory rights or retroactively transfer ownership of your original work.
The Standard EULA addresses license restrictions, warranties, liability and governing law. Nothing in these terms excludes statutory protections or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
